August 4, 2005 At 5:30 P.M., August 4, 2005, the TRUTH IN TAXATION Meeting was held with the Village President, the Village Clerk, and all Trustees present. Also present was Palestine Pioneer News Reporter, Jim Ellis. No questions were raised and the meeting closed at 5:55 P.M. The Palestine Board of Trustees met in regular session on August 4, 2005, at 6:00 P.M.. Trustees answering roll call were Gene Purcell, Larry Miller, Greta Dennison, David Branson, Walter Fritchie and Larry Surrells. Police Chief, Jim Clark and Treasurer, Margaret Littlejohn were also present. Visitors in attendance were Robinson Daily News Reporter, Tom Osborne, Palestine Pioneer News Reporter, Jim Ellis, and Bob Taylor. The meeting began with all those in attendance reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Board of Trustees held on July 7, 2005, were read and approved. Larry Surrells moved that Maxwell Concrete be contacted to estimate
the cost of replacing damaged and dangerous sidewalk areas within the
Village. The motion was seconded by Greta Dennison. The motion passed
unanimously. A dehumidifier at the East Lamotte Street lift station has quit working and cannot be repaired. Lack of a dehumidifier has caused some damage to the pump and pipes. A new dehumidifier of 25 pint capacity can be purchased for $145.00 Saturday only at Rural King. Larry Miller moved and Larry Surrells seconded a motion to purchase the dehumidifier as advertised. Motion passed unanimously. A bid for a Fork Lift Attachment for the JD 540 tractor has been received
from Vincennes Tractor, Inc. in the amount of $1135.00. A sewer committee consisting of David Branson and Gene Purcell was named to investigate the condition of all lift pumps in the Village Sewer System. Estimates of replacement costs should also be determined. Larry Miller moved that we convene into executive session under Section 2(C)(1) of the Open Meetings Act for discussion of employee evaluation and designation of a Department of Public Works Supervisor. Greta Dennison seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. The meeting recessed at 6:25 P.M. The meeting reconvened at 6:35 P.M. Greta Dennison moved that Carl Woosley be promoted to Supervisor for the Village Department of Public Works with a pay raise of $1.00 per hour. The motion was seconded by Larry Miller.
